Description:

A dangerous, homeless drifter who grew up picking cotton in virtual slavery.

An upscale art dealer accustomed to the world of Armani and Chanel.

A gutsy woman with a stubborn dream.

A story so incredible no novelist would dare dream it.

It begins outside a burning plantation hut in Louisiana . . . and an East Texas honky-tonk . . . and, without a doubt, in the heart of God. It unfolds in a Hollywood hacienda . . . an upscale New York gallery . . . a downtown dumpster . . . a Texas ranch.

Gritty with pain and betrayal and brutality, this true story also shines with an unexpected, life-changing love.

5excellent - a great readNov 19, 2009

This book made me sit back and think. I loved Denver's ability to just reason out and express his thoughts in simple to understand "prophecy". A couple of his quotes have become standard fare in my small group and large meeting presentations. Worthy of anybody's time to read.

5AuthenticNov 18, 2009
I am not an avid reader but this story was recommended to me by a family member and grabbed me from the first chapter. It seemed like it had to be fiction in parts, but the authenticity of the will of God in these 2 men's lives is overwhelming and gripping. It's an inspiration to everyone who reads about the precious will of God and those around us who surround and encourage us on that journey. Even for the nonchristian I still believe this is an incredible and inspiring story about trust and friendship that will move and inspire. Truly, a powerful read.

5Bittersweet and Beautifully WrittenNov 14, 2009
Cleverly written as the life stories of two vastly different men (racially, economically and socially) merge to create an unbreakable bond as friends who experience triumph, tragedy and tremendous personal growth. I love the way it was co-written with Ron and Denver telling the story in their own voice. It was much more insightful and moving than if it had been penned by one or the other.

It just proves that with God as our Father, we are all "brothers". A friend loaned me this book to read. I liked it so much that I have bought several copies for other people. You won't be disappointed.

5Same Kind of Different As me, by Ron HallNov 13, 2009
It was a good book that included some history that I did not know about Louisiana's Red River Parish. My Book Club enjoyed it.

5Instant ClassicNov 11, 2009
This book is a thought provoking, unscripted, real life, story about two men whose worlds could not be any more different from one another. This book runs the gamut of emotions. It will inspire the uninspired, and leave the reader wanting to know more about these two men. This is a great story, which needs to be told, especially during these uncertain times in our world today.
